My First Business Trip

You might have noticed I wasn't very active on social media this and that is because I went on my very first business trip. I traveled with five other people from Albany,NY to Carlstadt, NJ for a business trip. We left on Tuesday July 7 and returned on Friday July 10. My company rented a Chevy Tahoe and it was about a 2.5 hour drive to the hotel we stayed at for the week. We stayed at the Hilton Meadowlands, which is directly across from Metlife Stadium.

We each stayed in our room, which was nice considering I traveled with four other men. Each room had two double beds and a bathroom. I was not super impressed with this hotel for a few reasons. First, the bed was very firm and the pillows were too soft. Second, the bathroom needs to be updated. Third, the Starbucks in the hotel is only open 630AM-3PM.  Fourth, the restaurant had very little selection and the buffet was way over priced at $20 dollars.

For our meals, we ate at a few different restaurants, including Harold's Deli the first night we arrived. On Wednesday we worked approximately 16 hours, got breakfast at the Hilton, had ordered lunch from a chinese restaurant and for dinner we ordered takeout from Olive Garden. On Thursday, we went to the Bonefish Grill for dinner and I ordered the Blackened Fish Tacos. Now, I am not much of a seafood lover but those were pretty delicious. On the way home Friday, we stopped at Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and coffee! We had to keep all our receipt, so we can fill out expense reports to get reimbursed for our meals.

Overall, it was a good experience traveling for work and being away from home for a few days. It felt great getting home Friday and just sleeping most of the day to catch for the lack of at the Hotel. I don't believe I will travel again for work for a LONG time since I work for a Hospital.
